Best Drinks to Order at an All-Inclusive Resort in Mexico (From a Family of Six)

There is something unforgettable about watching your kids experience their first all-inclusive resort.
The wristbands.
The ocean view.
The realization that you can just walk up to a bar and order something without signing a receipt.
This wasn’t just a beach trip for us.
It was all four of my kids’ first all-inclusive experience.
Jaelyn, my adult daughter.
Ashlyn, 17 and soaking in every ounce of vacation freedom.
Madalyn, 13 and thrilled about “fancy drinks.”
And our tiny 2-year-old, Jersey, who lived her best life on fresh fruit juice, sandy toes, and an endless amount of water play.
Six people. One resort in Mexico. A whole lot of drink experimenting.
Here’s what we actually ordered with the hits, the surprises, and the one I absolutely did not love.
🍹 Miami Vice — The Unofficial Family Drink

If you don’t know what to order at an all-inclusive in Mexico, start here.
Half piña colada. Half strawberry daiquiri. Layered and frozen.
My husband ordered it.
I ordered it.
Jaelyn ordered it.
At some point, it became the unofficial drink of the trip.
The creamy coconut balances the strawberry sweetness perfectly. It’s indulgent without being overwhelming, and poolside in the Cancun heat? It’s elite.
Even though I’m usually a spicy margarita girl, I’ll admit it. I drank a lot of Miami Vices this trip. It’s easily one of my top favorites.
🌶 Spicy Margarita — My Always-and-Forever

If I’m in Mexico, I want tequila.
Fresh lime. Jalapeño slices. Tajín rim.
A well-made spicy margarita isn’t syrupy. It’s bold. Bright. Balanced. Just enough heat to wake up your taste buds.
Sunset over the ocean?
This is what I’m holding.
🍸 Classic Margarita — Simple, but Elevated

There’s something special about ordering a classic margarita in Mexico.
Fresh lime juice instead of mix.
Quality tequila.
The right salt ratio.
At a good all-inclusive, you can taste the difference immediately.
It’s clean, crisp, and authentically vacation.
🍍 Piña Colada — Tropical Comfort Mode

Pineapple. Coconut. Rum.
My husband rotates between a Piña Colada and a Miami Vice like it’s his personality trait.
Yes, it’s sweet.
Yes, it’s creamy.
Yes, it’s exactly what some afternoons call for.
This is full tropical mode.
🌿 Mojito — The Fresh Reset

Mint, lime, rum, soda.
When you need a break from frozen drinks, the mojito is a great option. It’s refreshing without feeling heavy, and the mint makes it feel crisp and clean.
It’s the drink version of hitting reset between pool dips.
🍊 The Paloma Situation

We ordered a Paloma for one very specific reason.
Ashlyn’s best friend is named Paloma.
It felt necessary and fun. Plus the gram has to eat. Kid lingo.
Tequila + grapefruit soda + lime.
It looked beautiful. It sounded refreshing.
I hated it.
Too grapefruit-forward for my taste. Not enough lime punch.
But here’s the beauty of an all-inclusive, you can try something just because you want to, without stressing about whether it was “worth it.”
🍊 Aperol Spritz — European Energy in Mexico

Not traditionally Mexican, but you’ll find it at many higher-end all-inclusive resorts.
Aperol + prosecco + soda.
Light. Slightly bitter. Bright orange and perfect before dinner.
It’s less beachy, more chic. A fun change-up from tequila-heavy days.
🌞 Havana Light — The Bartender Surprise

At some point, I did what I always do:
“Surprise me.” "Give me your favorite"
The waiter handed me a Havana Light.
Light rum. Citrus. Clean finish.
Not frozen. Not overly sweet. Just crisp and refreshing.
It instantly made my favorites list. It also made Jae's favorite list. It became a staple in the rotation.
Pro tip: Ask the bartender what they recommend at least once. You’ll often discover something better than what’s printed on the menu.
🍹 Rum Punch — The Sneaky One

Every all-inclusive in Mexico has their own version of rum punch.
Usually rum + fruit juices + a little mystery.
It’s colorful. It’s fun. It’s stronger than you expect.
This is the one you sip slowly and respect.
🍒 Shirley Temples — Madalyn’s Vacation Identity

Madalyn (13) proudly ordered Shirley Temples all week.
Sprite. Grenadine. Extra cherries.
She loved having her own “fancy drink” just like the adults.
Watching her carry it back to our chairs like she was holding the most important beverage on the resort? Core memory.
🍓 Virgin Daiquiris, Mocktails, Lattes — Teen Approved

Ashlyn (17) leaned into mocktails and virgin versions of the fun drinks.
Strawberry daiquiris without rum.Bright, fruity drinks that still felt festive.Even virgin mojitos.
We all love a good coffee. Great choice for a pick me up in the morning. My husband likes to add one to his nightly regime. When they look so pretty, even the kids are getting a few with their crepes.
One of the underrated perks of a good all-inclusive is that teens don’t feel left out. They still get the fun glass, the color, the poolside moment.
🥭 Fresh Fruit Juice — The Toddler Edition

Our 2-year-old had zero interest in cocktails.
But fresh mango juice?
Pineapple juice?
Watermelon juice?
That was her vacation.
And honestly, Mexico does fresh fruit better than almost anywhere. Even the tiniest traveler had her own special “resort drink.”
🌈 Jaelyn’s Rainbow Challenge
Jaelyn, my adult daughter, turned the bar into a game.
Drink the Rainbow
Start with Red. End with Purple. ROYGBIV in full glory.
Blue drink? Done.
Green drink? Found it.
Red? Easy.
It became a full rainbow experiment.
And that’s when it hit me:
This wasn’t about alcohol.
It was about freedom.
No one calculating the cost.
No one second-guessing the order.
Just trying things because they sounded fun.
Tips for Ordering Drinks at an All-Inclusive in Mexico
If you want to level up your drink experience:
• Ask for fresh lime instead of sour mix
• Alternate frozen and non-frozen drinks
• Try the bartender’s recommendation once
• Don’t sleep on mocktails
• Take advantage of fresh fruit juices
Final Thoughts
This trip wasn’t really about drinks.
It was about watching:
My adult daughter experience her first unlimited resort.
My 17-year-old fully embrace mocktail life.
My 13-year-old beam over Shirley Temples.
My toddler sip mango juice with sandy toes.
My husband stick to his frozen favorites.
And me discovering a new favorite because I asked.
That’s what the right all-inclusive in Mexico gives you.
Freedom to try.
Freedom to linger.
Freedom to laugh.
And sometimes, that freedom tastes like a Miami Vice.
